Math can be fun.

Stories and pictures are also utilized to introduce the four basic operations of math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Each operation is characterized by a particular temperament, with its own personality traits. Some Waldorf teachers use "Number Gnomes" to characterize the operations, while others use humanoid characters. Inspired by veteran Waldorf educator Eugene Schwartz, I chose the latter. I also created a character to represent the equal sign, the nexus of mathematical equations.
